Preserving the Past for the Present

The summer of 2000 has been an incredible start for our oral & visual Clay County history program.

October 20, 2000 -- The new "Footprints In Clay Committee" has successfully launched this project by raising funds, raising community awareness and purchasing some of the equipment to begin recording. Generous donations from corporate and private sources have garnered over $50,000 for us to begin phase 1 (create an Interview Collection). We have organized our committee for the project and are now training on the new cameras. Sometime next year, we will begin phase 2 (compile these interviews into programs). Phase 3 will then follow (make these interviews and programs available to schools, community organizations, individuals, etc.). Our July kick-off luncheon was attended by local politicians, newspaper representatives and community leaders. We would like to thank our patrons for their current and future donations.
