steve-hatcher-t0cSteve is originally from Independence, Missouri.  Growing up in Harry's home town and visiting family in the Washington, DC area sparked a love of history.  His passion for genealogy came from knowing his 102 year old great-great-grandmother and talking with his great aunt about ancestors and connections to Thomas Jefferson.

Steve and his wife, Carolyn, purchased an historic 1889 Victorian home in Liberty in 2004.  After restoring it, they moved to Liberty in 2005 and opened the Stone-Yancey House Bed and Breakfast in 2007.  They've since become involved in many historic organizations in Liberty and have met many wonderful people.  After 12 years, they retired and closed the B&B.

Starting out in mathematics, Steve switched his college degree to Computer Science and Data Processing.  He worked 37 years in IT, most of that time as in Database Administration.  On the side, he has learned to use PCs and maintain websites for volunteer organizations and the bed and breakfast.

Steve is a member of the Clay County Archives and the Civil War Round Table of Western Missouri.  He currently serves as 2nd Vice President on the board and is assisting with Archives' computers and website support.
