Preserving the Past for the Present

Today's Date -- December 20, 2007

The Atkins – Johnson House in Gladstone (Clay Co.) has recently been named to the National Register of Historic Places. Not only is this an honor for the city, but it also allows it to sell tax credits to pay for much-needed renovations to the site.  The current house is a two-story structure that has been remodeled numerous times. Within it are remnants of a two-room log house, circa 1826.

The City of Gladstone purchased the property in 2005, so that it might be preserved.
